Scholarships are provided in many forms and at various times during the year. Students applying for scholarships based on financial need must complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible after January 1 to qualify for maximum aid.
Any student may apply for Foundation and Private Scholarships offered through the Metropolitan Community College Foundation. Private and Foundation Scholarships are available twice each year. The deadline for scholarships beginning in the Summer Quarter is typically March 15 and the deadline for scholarships beginning in the Winter Quarter is November 3. High school seniors can apply for the Board of Governors Graduating Senior Scholarship and the Presidential Scholarship. Applications are due in March.
The Peter Kiewit Foundation has awarded Metropolitan Community College twenty-five (25) scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, to students in specified vocational programs.
The Davis-Chambers Scholarship Program has been established to provide scholarship awards to academically talented, underrepresented racial minority students who are Nebraska residents.
Current MCC students can apply for Academic Dean Scholarships which are offered by the dean of each academic area.
Students who have declared a major in science, technology, engineering or math could be eligible for a STEP Scholarship.
Students enrolled full-time in the e-commerce program at MCC, can apply for the Step into E-Commerce Scholarship.
MCC FOUNDATION AND PRIVATE SCHOLARSHIPS
The Metropolitan Community College Foundation was founded to provide financial support for students, faculty, staff, programs and facilities. Foundation and Private Scholarships are offered twice each year, Spring and Fall. The Financial Aid Office must receive the completed application packet, which includes this application, answers to questions, and an Academic Progress Report or a high school, GED, or college transcript. The Board of Governors of Metropolitan Community College has established a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors. Two recipients are selected from each high school in the four county service area (Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, or Washington Counties). Each scholarship will be awarded for two (2) academic years (eight consecutive quarters) and will pay for half tuition charges for a maximum of 21 credit hours per quarter. To be eligible for the Board of Governors scholarship students must have a 2.5 GPA or be in the top third of their graduating class. Students must also have demonstrated involvement in community service and/or extracurricular involvement. Students should contact their high school guidance counselor for more information.
MCC Presidential Scholarship for Graduating Seniors
The Board of Governors of Metropolitan Community College has established a scholarship program for graduating high school seniors. Two recipients are selected from each high school in the four county service area (Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, or Washington Counties). Each scholarship will be awarded for two (2) academic years (eight consecutive quarters) and will pay for full tuition charges for a maximum of 21 credit hours per quarter. To be eligible for the Presidential scholarship, students must have a 3.25 GPA or be in the top ten percent of their graduating class or be a Valedictorian or Salutatorian of the graduating class. Students must also have demonstrated involvement in community service and/or extracurricular activities. Students should contact their high school guidance counselor for more information.
DAVIS-CHAMBERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Davis-Chambers Scholarship Program has been established to provide scholarship awards to academically talented, underrepresented racial minority students who are Nebraska residents. The number of scholarships and amount of each scholarship varies according to the availability of funds and the financial need of the recipient(s). Amounts awarded by this scholarship can equal the full cost of college attendance. The Davis-Chambers Scholarship is acknowledged as one of Metropolitan Community College’s most important ways of honoring outstanding Nebraska students. The 2009-2010 application will be available at a later date.
MCC Academic DEAN ScholarshipS
Program Specifics:
- Funds are awarded by each academic dean.
- Scholarships are one-time awards or can be awarded for the academic year. Recipients of annual scholarships will be reviewed by the awarding dean on a quarterly basis to verify continued eligibility.
- Academic year ends at the conclusion of the summer term.
- Scholarships may be used for tuition, fees, books and other expenses.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Student must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in their program of study at Metropolitan Community College
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at Metropolitan Community College
- Application must be accompanied by at least one of the following:
1) Recommendation from a Program Faculty Member or Academic Dean
2) Recommendation from a Community/Service Group
3) Student Essay - Student must explain how this scholarship will support his/her academic goals (250 words or less)

STEP Scholarships for Metro Students
The National Science Foundation has awarded STEP partners, UNO and MCC, scholarship funds for students pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). MCC students meeting specific criteria are eligible. This scholarship is on going. Students can begin applying the quarter before they are within 30 quarter hours of completing their requirements for a STEM degree.

Step Into E-Commerce Scholarship
The Step Into E-Commerce Scholarship is available to Metropolitan Community College students enrolled full-time each quarter in the e-commerce program.
