Metropolitan Community College has three types of learning communities. We offer student learning communities, faculty learning communities, and a college-wide learning community.
Teri Quick is the Metro-wide Learning Communities Coordinator. For more information about any of Metro's learning communities, you may contact her at 738-4655 or tquick@mccneb.edu
Student learning communities
Learning communities are student groups focused around classes, programs, interests or educational goals.
Joining a learning community enhances the college experience by enabling you to form closer relationships with instructors and classmates.
Faculty, counselors, advisors and students work together to help achieve academic goals. Your learning experience is strengthened because counseling services are built into the program.
Metro offers around 50 learning communities per quarter during the fall, winter and spring quarters. Offerings differ from quarter to quarter based on student needs.
Metro also offers a learning community specifically for ESL students. Currently, there are learning communities for welding, call center operator specialist, and office skills training. If you would like more information regarding ESL learning communities, contact Stefanie Emrich, Transition Coordinator at 457-2644 or sjemrich@mccneb.edu.

Faculty Learning Communities
Faculty learning communities are offered throughout the year to give faculty the opportunity to meet to engage in structured conversations, seminars and projects associated with the scholarship of teaching and learning. Most are faculty driven, so any faculty who has an idea for a faculty learning community (FLC) may submit their idea by clicking to the FLC Proposal Form. You may also contact the Learning Communities Coordinator, Teri Quick at 738-4655 or tquick@mccneb.edu
College-wide learning community
Metro's college-wide learning community is our common book program, Metro Reads! This program connects everyone at Metro - staff, students, faculty and administrators - by encouraging them to read and participate in activities related to the selected common book. The Metro Reads! book for 2007-08 is For One More Day by Mitch Albom. For more information, contact Teri Quick at 738-4655 or tquick@mccneb.edu
